Stem Cells and Exosomes are widely discussed by most people who are interested in regenerative therapies and the latest advances in research for treating chronic diseases, injuries, anti-aging & rejuvenative aesthetics. Many of our patients have asked us to explain how stem cell therapy is used in medicine today.
Stem cells (also referred to as Mesenchymal stem cells or MSC’s) are found in our bodies and are not only used to create new cells but also repair damage. Used in clinical settings and in research all around the world, stem cells have become a hot topic due to their use as an alternative medical therapy for many health-related issues.
Not to be confused with the controversial “embryonic stem cell research,” mesenchymal stem cells can be harvested from healthy sources and have been used in clinical and research settings in and out of the United States, leaving many people with an improved quality-of-life and healthspan.
Stem cells have been shown to help alleviate multiple negative health symptoms including many of the effects of aging and disease, like fatigue, neurological problems, inflammation and pain. Research shows these stem cells “migrate to tissue injury areas to contribute to immune modulation, secrete anti-inflammatory cytokines and hide themselves from the immune system. Certainly, various investigations have revealed anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, reconstruction, and wound healing potentials of MSCs in many in vitro and in vivo models.” [1]
Many clinical studies show their beneficial use for a variety of issues including joint pain, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, neurological disorders. [2]
